Welcome
Kia ora koutou,
Our 2024 AGM will be held at 5:15 pm on Thursday, May 2nd, in Christchurch. All members are invited to attend. There is no hybrid option for those not able to attend.
There may be an opportunity for all members to vote online on the new constitution, so this information is relevant to you whether or not you attend the AGM in person.
Below are links to:
- The NZSSD 2024 AGM Agenda, including motions for changes to the society's constitution.
- The 2023 AGM minutes.
- A copy of the reports.
- A copy of the proposed new constitution.
At the AGM, we will be voting on two motions related to the constitution. The first motion is to amend the old constitution enabling online voting for financial members. Based on the outcome of this vote, one of two situations will occur:
a) If the first motion is passed at the AGM, then a link will be sent to all members to vote on the second motion regarding the proposed changes to the constitution to adhere to the principles of Te Tiriti and to meet the new legislative requirements of the Incorporated Societies Act.
Voting will close Saturday, May 4th, at 10 am, when a Special General Meeting will occur to ratify the result.
b) In the event that the first motion is not passed, then the second motion will be put to those at the AGM, and voting will be by a show of hands.
For more information on the above, please refer to our mailshot sent on April 18th.
