Registered Nurse (RN) prescribers use advanced knowledge and skills within a collaborative team environment to enable equitable access to care and medicines.
The Council is delighted to announce the medicines list for RN prescribers in primary health and specialty teams has been updated as per the Director-General of Health's latest gazette notice, published 23 March 2022. Links to the gazette notice and updated guidance can be accessed

The gazette, approved by the Director-General of Health, outlines the latest medications that RN prescribers can legally prescribe. Please note the list for RN prescribing in community health, a subset of the full gazette, remains unchanged. The list of controlled drugs also remains unchanged.
All RN prescribers are expected to keep up to date with changes to medicines using resources such Health Pathways and/or other clinical guidelines, as well as the New Zealand Formulary/Formulary for Children.
